We are excited to announce the Margaret Dayhoff Centenary Grant, honouring the legacy of a trailblazer in bioinformatics. This grant is intended for early-career women researchers at the University of Bern and provides CHF 20’000 for bioinformatics support as well as CHF 10’000 for sequencing services. If you are a passionate scientist who wants to break new ground in biology with the use of computational methods, let us know about your project and apply! The winner will be announced at the Margaret Dayhoff Centenary event on the 11th of March.

Bioinformatics Day 2025 - Margaret Dayhoff Centenary

Join us on March 11, 2025, as we commemorate the trailblazing work of Margaret Dayhoff—marking her 100th birthday and the 60th anniversary of her groundbreaking Atlas of Protein Sequence and Structure, the first publication in bioinformatics. This special event celebrates her legacy while spotlighting the remarkable contributions of women scientists leading the charge in bioinformatics today.
We're excited to bring together computational biology enthusiasts from across Switzerland for this milestone celebration. Don't miss the keynote talks by renowned expert, Prof. Dr. Artemis Hatzigeorgiou (University of Thessaly) and a special History feature by Prof. Dr. Bruno Strasser (University of Geneva).
